What makes the Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z a better OBD2 scanner compared to the Launch CRP123X?

I’m planning to buy a new OBD2 scanner for my garage. After some research, I’ve shortlisted the Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z and the Launch CRP123X. Both seem to have good reviews, but I want to know which one provides better features, vehicle coverage, and long-term value. Can anyone share personal experiences or pros and cons of each model?

I’ve personally used both the Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z and the Launch CRP123X. The MK808Z clearly stands out for professional users due to its advanced ECU coding, bi-directional control, and wider vehicle coverage. The touch screen is very responsive, and the software updates are frequent. On the other hand, Launch CRP123X is great for basic diagnostics like reading/clearing codes, live data, and basic ABS/SRS functions but lacks some of the advanced features. If you're a DIYer, Launch can work, but if you're serious about automotive repair, Autel MK808Z is the better long-term investment.

The Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z offers a larger touchscreen, faster processor, and supports more advanced diagnostics like bi-directional control and active tests, which gives it an edge over the Launch CRP123X. It’s more suitable for professional use.
